This gets even more difficult when it comes time to switch cars or go out of town—especially with a child who needs a booster seat. The team behind mifold hopes to offer a more convenient seat, designed to fold down to 10 by 5 inches. Mifold also alters the usual boost seat by design; instead of serving as a way to lift a child up, it helps bring the seatbelt down.
The design also places the lower part of the seat belt on the hip bones of the child instead of across his-her stomach. Billed as “the most advanced, compact and portable booster seat ever invented,” it is 10 times smaller than the average booster seat.
In addition, the extra-compact design of the seat actually makes it easy to place three of the seats in a row. This lets parents make the most of car space.
For those wondering about the actual safety of the booster seat, the team shared information on safety certification on its Indiegogo page. According to the team, the seat is “designed to conform to the most universally accepted global booster car seat regulations.” It has undergone initial tests but the most recent models will go through “final regulatory testing” for both European and American regulations “later this year.”
The seat was designed for ages four to 12 . It is currently available for pre-order on Indiegogo in six colors.
